The Roanoke Star

First go to the Roanoke Star Overlook. (www.visitroanokeva.com)
It is a 15 minute drive from Downtown off Jefferson Street to Walnut
Avenue. Or off the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 120.
Proceed to the top of Mill Mountain.

Park at the overlook. Walk to the left of the Handicapped parking
spaces to reach the Star and the overlook. Continue around the trail
to a man-made stone stairway, go up the stairs and then 7 steps to a
rotted stump. Inside the stump is the Roanoke Star letterbox. The
trail will continue around to the parking lot again.

Please use a stick to poke around the stump. Also be very discreet,
as this is obviously a well traveled area!
